 Rosy Starling Winter time in India


Rosy Starling is a migratory bird for Indian subcontinent. It migrates from eastern Europe and Central Asia to India, Srilanka and east Asian countries. It is called as Étourneau roselin in French language and Pastor roseus in Spanish and also this is the scientific name.

I have captured this rosy starling picture in the month of February near K.L University Vijayawada. They spent winter time in India i.e from November to March and then migrate to eastern Europe for breeding season.

Rosy starling was effectively used against locusts attacks in China. In India also we have to increase the natural habitats for these birds so that we can overcome the locust attacks in future.
