Common Myna is most common bird in southern Asia and is common to Indian Subcontinent region, thailand and it was also introduced to Australia. This is also called as Indian Myna.
Common Myna is omnivorous, because of its eating habit it became most populous bird in villages and urban areas similar to pigeons.
IUCN ( International Union for Conservation of Nature ) has declared this bird under world's most invasive species category.

They eat fruits, vegetables, seeds, insects and also small creatures like lizard ,rat etc .,
In Australia common myna is an invasive pest for blue berry , guava crops . In some places they are also considered as threat to native birds. 

Common mynas mate for life and can be seen in pairs, this is why myna are represented as symbol of love in some literature. Myna can produce various songs that consist of whistling, squeaking and gurgling sound. They can also mimic human sounds.

There are many local names for this bird . In Sanskrit sarika, kalahpriya which means "one who fond of arguments" because of its quarrelsome nature, Desi myna in Hindi, Gorwantera (Kannada), Gorinka (Telegu), Nahanavai (Tamil), Hor (Kashmiri), Salik or Bhat salik (Bengali), Kavalamkili, Matatta (Malayalam), Hirtenmaina (German),  Tserikamena (Madagascar) , peetanetra (one with yellow eyes) and peetapaad (one with yellow legs) .
