White-browed wagtail also called as large pied wagtail and also interestingly its name is derived from south-Indian city Madras (Now called as Chennai) .


How is this white-browed wagtail got its name ?

White colored feathers on its brow (forehead )  and its habit of wagging his tail got this bird that name.

Description 

 The white-browed wagtail is a resident breeder in India and is endemic to the Indian subcontinent. It is usually seen in pair near open water lands and scrubs. 
Breeding season is from March to October in Southern India.

This bird is insectivorous and main feed on  orthopterans, caterpillars and spiders .

Local Indian names of this bird are khanjan, dhobin and తెల్ల కంప జిట్టంగి  in Telugu.
