Grey-headed Swamphen belongs to swamp hen family. They can fly like other birds but with lower altitudes. These are seen in wetlands especially in lakes or lake beds in urban areas.

I found these Grey-headed Swamp-hen in Kasavanahalli lake. They look like half small peacock half hen. There are many Grey-headed Swamphens present in Kasavanahalli lake.  Their conservation status lie in LC category (Least Concern).

This bird perches on tree branches during night time to sleep, this behavior can be observed in Indian fowls or Indian hens,Roosters. Following video you can the this grey-headed purple swamp hen perching on tree.
