Purple Heron in Bangalore, India

This is a sleek heron - bluish grey above, with a thin neck. Crown, crest and cheek stripes are black. Sides of the head are chestnut. Usually seen singly at ponds and lakes, with good vegetation cover. It is active in early morning and evenings.

It feeds on Fish, frogs, Snakes etc., Nesting season usually through out the year.
